Perspectives on Terrorism from the Academy and the Field

Monday, July 20, 2015 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
This panel brings together a range of experts in terrorism and counter-terrorism. The goal of this event is to facilitate discussion concerning academic and governmental approaches to understanding terrorism as a political phenomenon, and the efficacy of the current responses to terrorism as a whole.

The event will run approximately 2 hours in a round table format, with each speaker being given 10-15 minutes to talk about her or his work and expertise. This will be followed by both directed and undirected questions from the audience towards the panel. The question-and-answer portion of this panel will provide time for discussion among the panelists, who have a diversity of perspectives about the complexity and nuance of terrorism and counter-terrorism.
