Speaker Fred Plotkin "Why Is Opera So Popular?" - Neil R. Euliano Professorship 10th Annual Lecture Series

Fred Plotkin, one of the world's foremost opera experts, will speak at the Neil R. Euliano Professorship 10th Annual Lecture Series on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 3:30 pm, in the Teaching Academy room 117.

Plotkin is the author of nine books, and has written for dozens of leading publications, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Time covering opera, classical music, food, wine and everything Italian-related! He is the author of the best-selling textbook, Opera 101: A Complete Guide to Learning and Loving Opera.

Mr. Plotkin will discuss “Why Is Opera So Popular?” and will include in his lecture singers as diverse as Freddie Mercury, Aretha Franklin, and Andrea Bocelli, among others.
