Have You Considered Working at a National Lab? Career Opportunities at PNNL?

Abstract:

In this seminar, we discuss career and collaboration opportunities for students and postdocs at national laboratories, specifically at Pacific Northwest National Lab. After a brief overview of the history and current state of the national lab system, we focus on PNNL and discuss the science, workplace, work/life benefits, and career development opportunities. We then preview recent examples of capability development such as 3D atomic force microscopy for visualizing solid-liquid interfaces and in situ liquid phase microscopy for observing nanoparticle interactions in real time. PNNL is focused on delivering transformational science and technology particularly in the fields of chemistry, energy, environment, and national security. We would be delighted if you consider applying to PNNL to be the home of your science in your next career step.

 Bio:

Elias Nakouzi is currently a Linus Pauling Postdoctoral Researcher at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, having graduated in 2016 with a Ph.D in physical chemistry from Florida State University. At PNNL, Elias is working under the mentorship of Prof. Jim De Yoreo as part of the Physical and Computational Sciences Directorate. He is interested in understanding particle crystallization, growth, aggregation, and assembly. In this context, Elias is developing experimental tools to measure and characterize interparticle forces and solution structure at solid-liquid interfaces.
