Community Action to Tackle Political and Natural Disasters in Puerto Rico

Wednesday, January 29, 2020 noon to 1:30 p.m.

Guest Speaker: Arturo Massol-Deyá, Ph.D.
Executive Director
Casa Pueblo de Adjuntas

Disasters such as Hurricane Maria and the recent earthquakes have deeply affected Puerto Rico. The island faces persistent vulnerability to these climate emergencies. Without any systematic change to address them, one solution is community action.

Join Dr. Arturo Massol-Deyá, a faculty member at the Department of Biology of the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus and Executive Director of Casa Pueblo de Adjuntas, for a luncheon discussion of how the Casa Pueblo initiative has worked towards the protection and conservation of natural resources while promoting fair and sustainable development.

Open to the public. RSVP required to attend.

Hosted in partnership with the UCF Office of Global Perspectives and International Initiatives. Lunch sponsored by Melao Bakery.
