Chimamanda Adichie and Conceição Evaristo: traces and escrevivências
This lecture seeks to present a reflection on the relationship between the literary experience of Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and the concept "escrevivência" – a portmanteau of escrita (writing) and vivência (living) – proposed by Brazilian writer Conceição Evaristo, as both of them insert in their texts a forceful way of writing individual and collective self-representation, existing in the fictional reports that describe the relations of race and gender in the literary sphere.
Lara Christina Silva Barroca, a visiting Fulbright Scholar from the Federal University of Viçosa, Minas Gerais state, Brazil, will head the lecture.
