Virtual STEM Chat: Peering into NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope

The James Webb Space Telescope will be the premier observatory of the next decade, serving thousands of astronomers worldwide. An infrared telescope, Webb will have a massive 6.5-meter primary mirror as well as a tennis-court sized sunshield that will protect it from the infrared radiation of the Sun, Earth, and Moon. Jeanne Davis, Associate Director for Astrophysics at NASA Headquarters, will present about the science and engineering behind Webb. Ms. Davis has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular Biology and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Systems, both from the University of Central Florida.
