More than a Moment: A Conversation on the Ongoing Fight Against Racial Injustice

Tuesday, September 8, 2020 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Recent events like the tragic, unnecessary killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor have reignited mass protests calling for racial justice. #ScholarStrike is one of these national calls for action, calling for support of Black Lives Matter within academia. In support of this movement, scholars from across UCF are hosting a virtual teach-in in which they will discuss avenues for impacting positive social change, managing self-care, and holding on to hope in these changing times.

This conversation will feature Dr. Jonathan Cox (Sociology), Dr. Jennifer Sandoval (Communication), Dr. Michael Armato (Sociology), Dr. Kenicia Wright (School of Politics, Security, & Int’l Affairs), and doctoral students Deborah Griffith (Sociology), Darius Lana (Communication), and Ashley Stone (Sociology). The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Shannon Carter (Sociology).
