The Black OBGYN Project

Monday, February 8, 2021 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

While preparing to enter residency in OB/GYN, two women launched the Instagram account “The Black OBGYN Project” so that they could keep up with a community of Black reproductive health physicians spread out across the country. Today, their profile has more than 14k followers and their content ranges from spotlights on black OB/GYNs to educational resources on racial inequity in reproductive healthcare. In celebration of Black History Month, come join us for a discussion with “The Black OBGYN Project” co-founder, Dr. Rachell Bervell about the impact that racism has had on maternal care, and what we can do as future physicians to eliminate racial disparities.

Dr. Bervell is focused on tackling disparities in medicine; she was a scholar in the Urban Medicine Program, has worked with the underserved community of Chicago, and received the AMA Foundation Minority Scholar Award, among many other endeavors and accomplishments. OGIG and SNMA are excited to have her discuss her experiences with us in OB/GYN care, reproductive health, and wellness for vulnerable communities.
