“He Got Up,” a community event Easter Sunday to help 30,000 local people who are homeless and/or in need, is seeking volunteers.
The March 27 event, at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl, will help bring together needy families and individuals with public and private resources to help them achieve self-sustainability. The College of Medicine’s Human Resources team is supporting the event as part of the “Jobs and Job Readiness” team. College of Medicine faculty physicians are assisting on medical care teams. Volunteers are also needed to provide support and information in areas including housing, legal services, food support, spiritual support and dental care.
Organizers hope to get more than 5,000 community volunteers to participate.
He Got Up runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with two-hour volunteer shifts available if you can’t work the entire day. Volunteers will receive lunch and a locker.
