Student Innovations Abound in CECS Spring 2021 *Virtual* Senior Design Showcase

Tuesday, April 20, 2021 9 a.m. to Friday, April 23 at 6 p.m.

Can a rocket launch from the stratosphere in mid-air? What would a new Mozart score sound like? How fast can a drone fly? Where’s your favorite food truck today? Can industry 3D-print metal more efficiently? Can a robot entertain your pet while you’re away? How would you design a supersonic jet factory or net-zero-energy student housing?

Discover how UCF engineering and computer science students explored and solved these questions and many more in the Spring 2021 Virtual Senior Design Showcase featuring 171 projects made by graduating seniors of the UCF College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Nearly 900 students worked in collaborative teams during their senior year to bring their inventions to fruition. The teams explain their designs and demonstrate their prototypes in the showcase of videos.

These innovative projects demonstrate students' knowledge and application of engineering and advanced computing concepts, and provide solutions to real-world problems, many of which are industry-sponsored. Still other projects are sponsored by UCF faculty to solve teaching challenges and make research tasks more efficient.

While Senior Design is an academic requirement for graduation, the showcase includes a competitive element. Nearly 175 UCF engineering and computer science alumni located nationwide will serve as volunteer judges virtually beginning April 20 to determine the best project in each discipline, best interdisciplinary project and best in show.
