John J Fraser, PT, DPT, PhD, FACSM is a board-certified orthopedic physical therapist, scientist, and leader in the United States Navy, currently serving as the Deputy Director for Operational Readiness & Health at the Naval Health Research Center, San Diego, CA. Dr. Fraser is a graduate of the Physical Therapy Program at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York in 2002, and the post-professional DPT program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2018. He was conferred the PhD in Education, Kinesiology-Sports Medicine from the University of Virginia in 2017, where he studied the role of the foot in lateral ankle sprains and chronic ankle instability. Dr. Fraser’s specialized clinical experience include the prevention, primary care, and rehabilitation of tactical, collegiate, and recreational athletes with neuromusculoskeletal injuries in traditional clinical settings and austere expeditionary environments. His research interests and scholarship are concentrated on ankle-foot neuromusculoskeletal function, rehabilitation, and public health of military tactical-athletes. Dr. Fraser's experience includes leadership of interdisciplinary teams, clinical practice and research development, medical and operational planning, and teaching in graduate professional and medical education.
