Body Composition: Validity and Application in Diverse Populations

Malia Blue, PhD, CSCS, CISSN is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Blue attended UNC Chapel Hill for her B.A. in Exercise and Sport Science, M.A. in Exercise Physiology and Ph.D. in Human Movement Science. Dr. Blue’s research is focused on components of cardiometabolic health with a special interest in racial and ethnic minority populations. Specifically, Dr. Blue evaluates body composition, muscle characteristics, and cardiovascular function and how these components are interrelated in overall health and disease risk. Additionally, Dr. Blue’s research interests include the relationship between body composition, performance, and injury risk in athletes.
