The UCF Africana Studies Program in partnership with UCF Interdisciplinary Studies, the College of Undergraduate Studies and Student Learning and Academic Success hosts the Lunch and Learn: 2021 James Weldon Johnson Lecture Series on Tuesday, October 26th at Noon.
The lecture titled, Study Away Research, Strategies for Self-Care, and Careers in Social Justice: Student Opportunities in IDS Research and History, Healing, and Human Rights features a virtual panel comprised of Dr. Leah Gaines, UCF Lecturer in Interdisciplinary Studies, Jasmine Harris, a UCF senior minoring in Africana Studies and Chelsea Baker, an UCF Africana Studies Program alumna.
Dr. Gaines will discuss a new research Study Away course centered on African American communities in St. Augustine, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana. Harris will share strategies for self-care through the lens of Africana Studies, music, and movement. Baker will address post-graduate career possibilities for the Africana Studies minor.
The session will be moderated by Asmara Cortes, UCF History graduate student.
