Faculty Development Presents -- “Identifying and Addressing Structural Barriers for Medical Students with Disabilities”

Wednesday, October 19, 2022 noon to 1:15 p.m.

10/19/2022 | 12:00P-1:15P EST – “Identifying and Addressing Structural Barriers for Medical Students with Disabilities”

Students with Disabilities are an increasingly important population in medical education. A November 2021 American Medical Association Report urges medical schools to accelerate the inclusion of persons with disabilities, mitigate barriers to improve learning environments, and hire a designated and qualified disability resource professional. Additionally, new research from the pathways study illuminates structural barriers in the learning environment. Using the power of story-telling presenters will guide the audience through the educational pathway of two medical students with disabilities, identifying barriers for this population through the lens of recent research findings and provide recommendations for improving disability access.
