John T. Washington Lecture Series

UCF Department of History's Africana Studies Program is please to host the Fifth Annual Dr. John T. Washington Lecture Series benefiting scholarships for Africana Studies Minors.  

This year's speaker Dr. Mwita Chacha will discuss recent trends in regional cooperation in Africa by identifying the uniqueness of the trends and placing them in historical context. In doing so, Dr. Chacha's presentation will call for an evaluation of regional integration in Africa grounded on theories and approaches that center on Africa’s political and historical experience.

Dr. Chacha is an Assistant Professor in International Relations. His research examines the politics of regional integration and the consequences of political and economic interdependence on domestic security and conflict.

Doors open at 4pm for light catered refreshments and conversation, with the lecture starting at 5pm.
