The thesis covers an analysis of the importance to incorporate the actor’s comfort when creating costume concepts and designs for a theatrical performance. It shows that it is possible to both make the actor’s comfort achievable while maintaining the integrity of a character. The paper discusses historical successes and failures of costuming designs and the impact it had on the actors.
The thesis explores practical applications of new costuming designs that attempt to address the challenges of costuming for the actor’s comfort. The study of pedagogical and methodological research methods and training is what constitute the curricular program for this Musical Theatre Grad student.
