CREOL SEMINAR: Apurva Jain '09MS '12PhD - Lumotive, Inc.

Wednesday, May 3, 2023 11 a.m. to noon

Title: Solid-State Lidar Powered by Light Control Metasurface (LCM) Technology

Abstract: Lumotive’s solid-state LCM beam steering technology will be introduced to an audience of optics and photonics experts. The talk will focus on the optical properties of LCMs and how this flat semiconductor component influences opto-mechanical design of lidar systems. Lumotive’s near-range wide-FOV lidar design will be demonstrated.

About the Speaker: Dr. Apurva Jain (Vice President, Engineering, Lumotive, Inc.) has over 10 years of experience in optoelectronics, product development, program management and precision manufacturing. His expertise is in building and managing teams to transform early concepts into commercially successful products employing best design and manufacturing practices. Prior to Lumotive he was the Director of New Product Development at Avo Photonics, a private-label design and contract manufacturing firm. There he worked on over 20 optoelectronic products from concept through volume manufacturing for industrial sensing, medical diagnostics and telecom markets. Dr. Jain received his Ph.D. in Optics from CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida, and B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from McGill University.
