The Invisible Sex: Some Thoughts on the Role of Women in Prehistory - Anthropology Guest Lecturer: Dr. James Adovasio

Friday, March 30, 2012 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Central Florida Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) and the UCF Department of Anthropology present the Doris Z. Stone Lecturer, Dr. James Adovasio. Dr. Adovasio, with Mercyhurst College, discusses how our vision of Paleolithic fur-clad male hunters with timid women hovering behind bears little relation to reality. This is an exciting new look at prehistory, arguing that woman played central roles in survival, travel, hunting, and social life, suggesting that andro-litho-centric stereotypes of the past are fatally flawed.
