Joe Melbourne was recognized in 2014 as a CEO of the Year Honoree for demonstrated corporate leadership and contributions to Central Florida by the Orlando Business Journal. Under his leadership, the CFE credit union grew from $373 million in assets and ten branches to nearly $1.7 billion with 22 branches, 42 ATMs, a 24/7 call center, and a robust suite of electronic channels including mobile banking with remote deposit capture. Among his other awards, Mr. Melbourne was selected as the Professional of the Year by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) in 2005. He was recognized for his leadership in educational excellence by the Orange County School Board in 2007. In 2008, he received a lifetime achievement award as Professional of the Year from the Florida Credit Union League. In 2013, the credit union has acquired the naming rights to the UCF Arena, and the 10,000-seat facility will now be known as the CFE Arena.
