The UCF percussion faculty, Dr. Thad Anderson, Professor Kirk Gay, and Dean Jeff Moore, will present a recital of works for solo, trio, and featured trio with percussion ensemble. Included in the program is a world premiere of a brand new work composed by percussion studio alum Joe W. Moore III ’09. The piece was commissioned by Dean Moore.
Jeff Moore is the Dean of College of Arts and Humanities and a Professor of Music. Active in all facets of percussion, he has performed with several major symphony orchestras and is a frequent performer of chamber music. He also performs on drum set and is an international clinician, lecturer, and soloist.
Thad Anderson is an Associate Professor of Music where he coordinates the Percussion Studies program, teaches applied lessons, and directs the UCF Percussion Ensemble. Active as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician, some of Anderson’s recording credits include releases on the Cantaloupe, Naxos, Ravello Records, Flying Horse Records, and Innova labels.
Kirk Gay is currently the Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies and an Instructor of Music. He teaches student lessons for the percussion studio and directs “Black Steel,” the UCF steel drum ensemble. He is a Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician and an endorser and clinician for Sabian Cymbals, Grover Pro Percussion, Salyer Percussion sticks & Mallets and Evans Heads.
