Digital Twin Seminar Series: Designing and Developing a Digital Twin Large Infrastructure Management Framework in Orange County, California

Abstract:

Embracing digital innovation and transformation represents a contemporary set of opportunities and challenges for any institution and organization. It can play a catalytic role in how regional and local institutional governments manage and operate critical infrastructure in service for the citizens and communities. This talk will explore and describe the process, approach, and framework for building technological, institutional, and social capital to support digital twins and digital transformation technologies. It will provide the range, width, and depth of analytic, structural, engineering, geospatial, and strategic elements of such a framework. It will describe the fundamental cornerstone elements for building interoperable and robust digital twins, the technological mix of methods and data, the approach to real-time or near real-time data and technology integration, the incorporation of data-rich and data-centric AI, Machine Learning, modeling, and simulation tools, as well as the integration of engineering, spatial, visual, cognitive and institutional intelligence. The framework aims to enhance decision-making, provide translational science-based data and analyses, embrace immersive digital experiences for end-users, and empower communities to face future challenges and opportunities.
