KHK Food Pantry Summer B Food Drive - Boxes and Bags for Summer B

Monday, June 4, 2012 8 a.m. to Thursday, June 14 at 5 p.m.

We hope you are having a great summer so far. At the KHK Pantry we have been busy helping our fellow Knights through Summer A. So far this semester we have had 639lbs of food donated; however 183.5 was expired and had to be thrown away and over 400 visitors that were provided with over 1700lbs of food.

Although we have food drives scheduled throughout this next year, none of them will provide food for Summer B so, we thought we would have a Summer B-“box and bag” food drive. This “B” theme means any nonperishable food packaged in a box or a bag is what we would like to collect. Some examples are pasta, mac & cheese, cereal and Ramen.

In order to make this interesting, we would like to make it competition between donation boxes. The department’s donation box that collects the most pounds of usable food will receive: their picture on our web site homepage, a certificate and balloons for the office! The food drive will run from Monday June 4th-Thursday June 14th.

Howard Phillips Hall – Sophomore & Second Year Center (Room 215)
Howard Phillips Hall – First Year Advising & Exploration (Room 116)
College of Psychology – Faculty Offices (Room 320)
College of Psychology – Auditorium (Room 108)
College of Science – Academic Services (Room 250)
Nicholson School of Communication – Atrium 1st Floor
Nicholson School of Communication – 2nd Floor (Room 214)

Volunteers will come around twice a week to collect donations from the boxes. We will weigh the food and keep a tally of the usable pounds per box donated and contact the winning department on the 15th. We will also let everyone know the total amount collected by e-mail.
