Dissertation Defense: AN ANALYSIS OF FACTORS AFFECTING GRADUATION RATES IN A LARGE SUBURBAN FLORIDA SCHOOL DISTRICT DURING THE PANDEMIC

Tuesday, June 4, 2024 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This study investigated factors, MTSS Tiering, PBIS Tiering, attendance in Summer Transition, and OSS (3+) days, and their effect on graduation rates. The first part of the study analyzed 10,602 students with the factors affecting on-time graduation, and the second part of the study analyzed 1,013 students with the factors affecting postponed graduation.

Post hoc data collected from the school district was analyzed using a logistic regression. Findings showed that there was a relationship between all the factors and on-time graduation and only one factor had a relationship with postponed graduation.

Recommendations were made for modification and future applications of the instruments used in the study and for continued research into the various factors affecting graduation rates.
