Mathematics Colloquium by Dr. Alexander Tovbis

Monday, September 16, 2024 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The UCF Mathematics Colloquium, held every Monday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm in MSB 318, offers a diverse platform for research scholars, faculty, students, and industry experts to share and exchange ideas, fostering discussion and networking across various areas of mathematics.

Dr. Alexander Tovbis will speak at this week's colloquium on soliton gases for integrable equations.

Abstract: I plan to give a brief introduction of soliton gases for integrable equations -- an emerging topic of research interest in nonlinear wave theory. The main idea is to interpret soliton solutions for integrable equations as particles with some "elastic" interactions and then analyze time evolution of large ensembles of such particles.
