Tuesday, October 22, 2024 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Join The India Center at UCF for a talk with, Ajay Chhibber, Ph.D., Distinguished Visiting Scholar, Institute for International Economic Policy (IIEP), George Washington University and Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council.

His latest book co-authored with Salman Soz “Unshackling India: Hard Truths and Clear Choices for Economic Revival“ published by Harper-Collins in November 2021, was declared the Best New Book in Economics for 2022 in the Financial Times and was awarded the India Economic Forum Literary Award for 2022.

The Indian government, both in political rhetoric and policy planning, has declared its intentions to make India an advanced economy by 2047. India's economic rise in the last three decades is indeed significant; it also remains the fastest growing economy in the world. Yet, India faces a myriad challenges, both internal and external, before it can realize the vision of being an advanced economy. What are India's comparative advantages, and how can India secure its vision? What is the journey of reform - political, economic, social - it must undertake? How will the global environment shape India's quest? What is the role of the India-US economic partnership in realizing this vision?

The event will be moderated by Buvaneshwaran Venugopal, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Finance in the College of Business at the University of Central Florida.
