In this webinar, WestEd researchers Lee Hartman and Mary Schmida will present an enhanced model of teacher expertise (Walqui, 2024). The domains of teacher expertise — vision, motivation, reflection, knowledge, practice and understanding of the context — will be described and discussed. An argument will be made that in order for deep, sustained teacher change to happen, multiple educators at the school site, at all levels of influence, must be knowledgeable, supportive and work collectively sharing similar practices. Suggestions for how to enact this organic, fluid, and enriching model in schools and districts will be offered.
