The 12th Annual Jerrell H. Shofner Lecture on Florida History & Culture: Seminoles and Miccosukees as First Floridians

The 12th Annual Jerrell H. Shofner Lecture on Florida History & Culture: Seminoles and Miccosukees as First Floridians: An Indigenous History of the Yugnee-Fuskee will be presented by Andrew K. Frank will take place October 18th, 2024 on the UCF Main Campus.

Andrew K. Frank is the Allen Morris Professor of History at Florida State University. He is an ethnohistorian who specializes in the history of the Florida Seminoles and the Native South. He is the co/author of seven books, co/editor of four books, and numerous articles and chapters in edited books on Indigenous people, including Before the Pioneers: Indians, Settlers, Slaves, and the Founding of Miami (2017). He and Denise I. Bossy co-edited the prize-winning special issue of the Florida Historical Quarterly on Indigenous Florida in Summer 2021.

Event reception begins at 3:30 PM, with the lecture starting at 4:15 PM.
