The School of Visual Arts and Design's Distinguished Artist Series is back for the 2024-25 academic year! Join us for a talk and Q&A with artist Wendy White. The event is free and open to the public.
Wendy White Bio:
Wendy White was the subject of a solo exhibition entitled Low Pressure at Museum Goch, Germany in 2021. Her work, spanning painting, sculpture, and installation, borrows its iconography from contemporary advertising, American pop culture, and twentieth-century art history. Through the juxtaposition of painterly abstraction, stenciled graphics, and hard-edge fabricated elements, White defies and expands the limitations of the traditional canvas.
Her work was featured in Phaidon’s anthology Vitamin P2: New Perspectives in Painting and has been reviewed in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, New York Magazine, The Washington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, Artnet, Time Out New York, Modern Painters, ArtNews and BOMB, among others.
