James Weldon Johnson Lecture Series - "Black American Music (#BAM) Past, Present, Future”

A brief overview of the history of black music in America starting in the late 1600's, while making stops in (folk): ragtime, jazz, blues, race music, rhythm & blues, funk, soul, and eventually hip-hop (today), as well where it is heading. Sheel will also discuss the implications the music #BAM has had on American, and world culture as well as how racism and prejudice have helped/hindered the development of one of America's finest areas of artistic development.
