The Boren Awards fund college students (both graduate and undergraduate) to go abroad to world regions critical to U.S. interest to study a critical language and to be immersed in the local culture. Various languages and countries are eligible and eligible students of all proficiency levels who are committed to enhancing their skills are encouraged to apply.
Boren Scholarships Award Amounts:
- 8-11 weeks: $8,000 for a summer program (STEM majors only)
- 12-24 weeks: $12,500
- 25-52 weeks: $25,000
Boren Fellowships Award Amounts:
- 12-24 weeks: $12,500
- 25-52 weeks: $25,000
