Speaker: Omar Nour (UCF, Mathematic Dept)

Title: An Introduction to Quantum Information Theory

Abstract: Quantum Information Theory is a rapidly evolving field which explores the intersection of quantum mechanics and information science, providing a framework for understanding how quantum systems can be harnessed for information processing tasks. This talk will provide a brief introduction to the theory along with its mathematical formalism and cover some key elements such as quantum entanglement, superposition, and quantum measurement, as well as some basic application in tasks like quantum computation, communication, and cryptography. We will also discuss some recent work and possibly touch on some of the challenges and breakthroughs in the field, such as quantum error correction and quantum algorithms, as well as potential future implications.
