Title: How will rainfall change with global warming?

Abstract: Computer simulations show that global average rainfall increases with surface warming at a rate of roughly 1-3% per Kelvin, but we lack the understanding to estimate this number without resorting to complicated numerical models. This talk will review the basic physics governing mean precipitation, as well as present a new theoretical framework for intuitively understanding as well as quickly estimating this quantity.
