Computer Architecture Series: Abhishek Bhattacharyya

Friday, September 11, 2026 noon to 1 p.m.

Join us as we welcome the first speaker of Fall 2026! Our guest will be Abhishek Bhattacharyya, a system-on-a-chip architect at Samsung SARC/ACL. He will present "Computing Against the Odds: Processor Architecture for Batteryless Devices."

Bhattacharyya is an incoming SoC architect at Samsung (SARC/ACL) and a recent computer engineering Ph.D. graduate from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research spans computer architecture, system reliability and environmental sustainability. Specifically, his doctoral work focused on microarchitectural solutions for safe and energy-efficient computing in batteryless devices, last-level cache (LLC) optimization for sustainability, and edge-AI acceleration. His work on non-volatile memory renaming for intermittent computing was recognized with an ISCA Best Paper Award and selected as a CACM Research Highlight. Additionally, Bhattacharyya has spent several years in hardware architecture and engineering roles at Qualcomm, AMD Research, IBM and Calxeda.
