The 3rd Annual Global Health Conference at the UCF College of Medicine features interactive and engaging speakers, workshops, and simulations on Refugee Health for medical and nursing students from Florida and the Southeast. The keynote address from 9:30-10:30 a.m. is free and open to the public. The keynote speaker is Dr. Rick Hodes, an American doctor who has lived and worked in Ethiopia for over 20 years helping Ethiopians immigrating to Israel. Currently, he is the senior consultant at a Catholic mission helping sick refugees with heart disease, spine disease, and cancer. He has also worked with refugees in Rwanda, Zaire, Tanzania, Somalia, and Albania.
