Lunch and Learn: Town Hall Discussion

Tuesday, October 14, 2014 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Volunteer UCF will partner with the Multicultural Academic & Support Services and LEAD Scholars for a session discussing a multitude of social issues divided into hot topics in order to create active dialogue among peers. Multicultural Academic and Support Services (MASS) assists multicultural and first-generation students through numerous services and programs. The host of the session will be Dr. Bryer, associate professor and director of the Center for Public and Nonprofit Management at the University of Central Florida. The purpose of the session is to create an open forum for students to learn, discuss, and process the discussion in a safe space with the intent of students becoming motivated to take part in their community by voting. This is a place for them to have a voice and ultimately gain the knowledge needed for voting on these social topics. Intertwined with the social “hot topic” discussion, the session will also include civic dialogue based on “A Crucible Moment: College learning & Democracy’s Future.”

Lunch will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Please RSVP if you are attending. This is an educational session and volunteers are not required.
