Dr. A. Louis Medin M&S Seminar Series - The Virtual and Augmented Reality Group

The Virtual and Augmented Reality Group (GRVA) Federal University of Uberlandia, Brazil – Laboratory Presentation 

The laboratory´s research
focus and research strategy are some of the items taken into account in this
report. In addition, recent accomplishments achieved by the Group are also
discussed.

Dr. Alexandre Cardoso graduated in
Electrical Engineer at the Federal University of Uberlandia in 1987, where he
also received his MSc in the Computer Graphics and Applications in 1992. He received his PhD in Systems Digital Engineer in University of
São Paulo (USP) in 2002. He has served as Coordinator of the Graduate Program
in Electrical Engineering from 1995 to 1997 and Coordinator of Post-Graduate
Program of Electrical Engineering from 2008 to 2013. He is a Professor at the
Faculty of Electrical Engineer of Uberlandia, in Brazil and Researcher in
Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Software Engineer and Computer Graphics.
Nowadays, he is coordinator of three relevant projects related with
applications of Virtual and Augmented Reality in Training, Education and
Information Visualization. From 2004 to 2006, he was the President of the
Special Group of Virtual and Augmented Reality of the Brazilian Computer
Society – SBC. Dr. Cardoso has more of twenty years of experience in Computer
Graphics, Virtual and Augmented Reality and its applications in Assistive
Technologies, Education, Training, Visualization and Fundaments. He has
authored and co-authored books, book chapters and more of 100 peer-reviewed
publications in the area.
