An overview of GKT with a pretest to test your knowledge of the English Language Skill's (ELS) "rules" will be conducted in the first session. (Don't worry, the test is neither collected nor evaluated by anyone except you.)
Over the course of the semester, we will cover all three competencies of the ELS: 1. Knowledge of Language Structure; 2.Knowledge of Vocabulary Application; and 3. Knowledge of Standard English Convention. There will be examples of the rules that our English language holds and plenty of practice quizzes for you to take home, or to complete in class.
We will also cover some strategies to pass the reading and writing portion of the GKT.
Helpful websites and titles of test prep books will be shared and handouts provided.
The purpose of this workshop is to help candidates prepare effectively for the General Knowledge Test. These sessions will help direct the students’ focus to relevant material for review.
