For the past several years UCF History faculty and graduate students have been working with the Friends of Casa Feliz and Winter Park Public Library to digitally preserve more than 500 architectural drawings by acclaimed Winter Park architect James Gamble Rogers II (1901-1990). Join UCF History professor Scot French and graduate students Rachel Williams and Matt Patsis for a presentation of their work on project, from the scanning of fragile drawings once rolled up in tubes to the creation of an online database and the curation of a digital exhibit. The exhibit (as currently planned) will display ten drawings chosen by Jack Rogers, and provide a detailed history of the buildings, as well as background on James Gamble Rogers II and his impact on the Winter Park landscape. This project will provide the Winter Park community with a better understanding of its rich architectural history and shine a light on the life and legacy of the master architect who designed Casa Feliz and so many other noteworthy structures.
