Backpacking on Cumberland Island

Friday, October 11, 2019 6 a.m. to Sunday, October 13 at 8 p.m.

Explore Cumberland Island — Georgia's largest and southernmost barrier island and home to over 9,800 acres of congressionally designated wilderness. Here we will backpack through pristine maritime forests and wide marshes, while exploring the history of the island. Natives, missionaries, enslaved African Americans and Wealthy Industrialists all walked here. There are also wild ponies on the island!

For more information regarding the trip, call 407-823-2408 or stop by the Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC).

To register for the trip, please visit the OAC in the Recreation and Wellness Center, room 154. We are located on the first floor of the Recreation and Wellness Center, just past the racquetball courts, down the long hallway, across from the RWC Wet Classroom and Men's locker room entrance to the lap pool. PLEASE NOTE: Once you register for the course, you must attend the pre-trip meeting held on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. in the OAC.

Our open hours are:

Monday and Friday - noon to 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
