Our mission is to initiate an
ongoing dialogue on the dimensions of how Florida sees itself and is seen by
the rest of the country through the lens of popular culture, and what is
distinctive about the Florida look on film and television. Three
key themes will be explored at this year's conference regarding films and
television programs & media made in Florida, set in Florida, or both:
- Landscape: Florida’s unique
landscape and look created and explored on screen.
- History: Florida’s unique place
in the history of American film, stretching back to the beginning of film
itself.
- Identity: Understanding the
differences between how Floridians view themselves and non-Floridians depict
the state on film.
Please
feel free to share this flier with students, colleagues, and members of the
community. We hope you can be
there with us for this special event. Any questions can be
