Campfire Chat Series

Sunday, May 10, 2020 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Join UCF Outdoor Adventure for our next Campfire Chat! Register here: https://bit.ly/oacampfirechat3

We will chat with Captain Mark "Snark" Waddington, a former tall ship captain and Program Director for Guided Discoveries, Inc. in California. He has led ocean expeditions across the world, and served as Captain for the Rozalia Project, a team of scientists collecting data on microplastics in the Atlantic Ocean.

We will chat with Captain Mark about his sailing experiences, the protection of our oceans, conflict resolution and group development, and leadership on the high seas. We encourage you email questions before the chat to Katherine Rocco (katherine.rocco@ucf.edu) and to participate in the conversation as much as you want!

In the meantime, you can tune up for our conversation by checking out the Rozalia Project (rozaliaproject.org) and learning more about the tall ship the Tole Mour (https://vimeo.com/72524482).

The Campfire Chat series gives students the opportunity to chat with professionals in the outdoor and travel industry about:

  • Leadership skills and how to apply them in a real world setting
  • Diversity and inclusion from a both a local and global perspective; what can we do to better understand those around us
  • The importance of community building and positive impact of contributing to a productive group around you
  • Sustainability practices and how you can make a difference in your community
  • Exciting adventures! Learn more about people who have traveled the world and all of the unique stories that come along with that experience.
