CECS Virtual Faculty Research Talks

Friday, November 20, 2020 noon to 1 p.m.

New in 2020. The UCF College of Engineering and Computer Science's Zoom-cast series is live-streamed every Friday from noon to 1 p.m., offering four 10-minute talks by CECS faculty and a live-chat Q&A.

Targeted to faculty, scientists and potential industry and government partners, all are invited to Zoom-in and hear presentations by UCF’s engineering and computer science faculty who explain their cutting-edge, pioneering research endeavors in quick, 10-minute snapshots.

These talks provide an opportunity to get to know — and collaborate with — our faculty who are advancing innovations in all areas of engineering and computer science, including smart city technology, aerospace, energy, modeling and simulation, medicine, advanced materials, cyber security, and more. Each faculty presenter will narrate as they share illustrative slides.

Moderated by Subith Vasu, Ph.D., UCF Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, viewers can submit questions in real-time and express interest in collaborating.

The November 20, 2020 presenter lineup:

  • Mengyu Xu, Ph.D., Dept. of Statistics and Data Science: "High-Dimensional Analysis for Spectroscopy of Exhaled Gas from COVID-19 Patients"
  • Debashis Chanda, Ph.D., Dept. of Physics: "Genetically-Modified Optical Sensors for ML/BD Enabled Low Cost, High Throughput Detection and Screening for COVID-19"
  • Xin He, Ph.D., Dept. of Marketing: "COVID-19 and Medical AI Adoption: The Role of Technology Receptivity"
  • Liqiang Wang, Ph.D., Dept. of Computer Science: "Deep Learning Method for Epidemiological Modeling for COVID-19"
  • Ozlem Garibay, Ph.D., Dept. of Industrial Engineering and Management Services: "Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Discovery of Complex Polymeric Nanofilms Designed to Trap and Kill the Covid-19 Virus for Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Applications"
