Writing with Clarity

Monday, October 17, 2022 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Have you ever received feedback from a mentor, an editor, or a colleague that suggested your writing was unclear? You may have known just what you intended to say but readers struggled to see the connections among your ideas. In this workshop, we will introduce you to some principles for clarity that were developed to meet the needs of readers and writers across disciplines. We will lead you in a series of activities that put these principles into practice, demonstrating the ways that these strategies can change the meaning of your sentences, your paragraphs, and your arguments. Participants should bring a writing sample that they can revise with during the workshop—this can be a journal manuscript, literature review, a seminar paper, a conference abstract, etc.

This workshop is offered through the College of Graduate Studies Pathways to Success professional development program for graduate students. No RSVP or registration is required. See https://graduate.ucf.edu/professional-development for details.
