SECOND ANNUAL KNIGHTS WRITE SHOWCASE - A Showcase of UCF’s Best Undergraduate Writing

Monday, February 13, 2012 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
University of Central Florida’s Department of Writing and Rhetoric is pleased to host the Second Annual Knights Write Showcase, presenting thought-provoking undergraduate research and writing to the public. The event will be held in the Student Union Pegasus Ballroom from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on February 13, 2012, and will include student displays and panels, a faculty panel, and awards for best writing given by UCF President John Hitt and UCF Provost Tony Waldrop.

The Knights Write Showcase provides a chance for students and faculty across campus to get a glimpse of the exciting work currently going on in first-year writing classes. In addition to student work, faculty panelists from a variety of disciplines will talk about the importance of writing in their own lives during the lunch hour.
The day will also include a President and Provost Awards Ceremony to honor Excellence in First-Year Writing from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Dr. Waldrop will give awards for best student displays, while Dr. Hitt will give the award for best student writing published in Stylus, UCF’s journal of first-year writing.

The event is free and open to the public. Members of the community and local media are invited to attend to show support for these young writers, and for the university’s goal of preparing its students to contribute meaningfully to their respective workplaces and communities.
