The Power of Word Parts: Morphology in Secondary Classrooms

Thursday, February 29, 2024 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In this webinar, Dr. Dianna Townsend will lead participants in exploring one of the highest-leverage language learning targets out there: morphology. Morphology is the study of word parts or the roots and affixes that make up words. Research shows that learning about meaningful word parts can support all students, especially secondary students, with vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension. Dr. Townsend will help you boost your morphological knowledge and help you plan for incorporating morphology learning opportunities into all content areas.

Dr. Townsend is a professor of literacy studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, College of Education & Human Development.
