Navigating the Complexities of Patellofemoral Pain: Insights and Lessons from Clinical Trial Management

Dr. Glaviano is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and serves as the Clinical Education Coordinator and core faculty member of the Masters in Athletic Training Program at the University of Connecticut. His research interests include the evaluation and treatment of patellofemoral pain, optimizing lumbopelvic-hip complex function and the use of electrical stimulation to optimize muscle function following injury. His lecture will share unique insights from working on clinical trials in patient populations, including his current Department of Defense funded project, Strength Training Rehabilitation Incorporating Power Exercises (STRIPE), which takes a new approach to patellofemoral rehabilitation that involves incorporating power-based exercises in addition to traditional strength-based exercises.
