Within the resistance training and muscle growth research space, the importance of resistance training volume is often touted as one of, if not, the single most important variable to consider when designing a resistance training intervention, especially as it pertains to resistance trained individuals. However, a close examination of the literature may reveal that the current evidence is much more ambiguous than clear. This talk will critically evaluate the literature examining the relationship between training volume and hypertrophy. Specifically, we will examine common magnitudes of growth and offer perspective on the state of the literature.
