From Teller to Business Builder: Karlon's Financial Path and Business Strategies

This session will explore Karlon Johnson's career journey, from hosting financial literacy workshops on behalf of Fairwinds at the UCF campus as an intern and full-time employee to his transition into business financial literacy during the pandemic and with the Black Business Investment Fund (BBIF). Both of these tie into his current career path. Lastly, he will speak to one of the ways to create generational wealth through business startups and growth strategies for future entrepreneurs.

Karlon Johnson, a distinguished community/business development officer at the BBIF, is celebrated for his substantial impact on commercial banking and community development across Florida and Georgia. Honored with the 2024 Global Recognition Award, Johnson is acclaimed for pioneering financial literacy workshops and pivotal contribution to BBIF's goal of economic empowerment in marginalized communities. His academic achievements, including an MBA from UCF and specialized certifications in banking, economic development, and capital markets, enhance his professional distinctions, such as being a finalist for the 2024 Banking Tech Awards and being named among the Orlando Business Journal's 2024 40 Under 40 Honorees.
