Career Exploration Workshop for Anthropology Students

Friday, February 14, 2025 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In an increasingly competitive academic and non-academic job market, anthropology students need all the advantages they can get. This interactive workshop, presented by Katie East, Ph.D., will guide graduate and undergraduate students through exploring their career interests outside of academia and developing a plan to ensure their career success after graduation. Each participant will generate the following during the workshop: a list of core interests, a list of possible job titles, a list of needed transferable skills, a plan for achieving transferable skills. UCF alumna are also welcome to join.

Katie East is a board-certified forensic anthropologist. She completed her MA in biological anthropology at the University of Central Florida and her PhD in biological anthropology at McMaster University in 2021. Katie works as a professional forensic anthropologist and an adjunct instructor in anthropology and criminal justice, and educates public audiences through workshops, community college classes, and public lectures. With over a decade working in museums, laboratories, and field settings, Katie offers a broad range of insights about careers in anthropology.
