Research Seminar: Dr. Irene Davis (USF)

Friday, January 30, 2026 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Dr. Irene Davis will deliver a seminar that traces our Evolutionary Legacy — including our Hunter-Gatherer history — to explain how human biomechanics developed and why modern movement patterns often conflict with our design. Building on this foundation, she will describe the Mismatch Theory of Evolution and its consequences for the musculoskeletal system, linking evolutionary pressures to contemporary patterns of injury and dysfunction. The presentation will conclude with evidence-based strategies to reverse this evolutionary mismatch, offering practical approaches to promote healthier movement and healthier lives.
